I happened across this Fedora issues that mentions the "Quit..." button not working; a patch is attached. Perhaps this would fix the problem?

A bit more info:

I issued the command "strings /usr/bin/netbook-launcher, and found the following embedded in the binary:

gnome-session-save --kill --gui

Trying to run this command manually, I got the following error:

(gnome-session-save:3503): WARNING **: Failed to call logout: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files

Issuing this command on a full Foresight install works as expected; however, there's no .service file in /usr/share/dbus-1/ that references org.gnome.SessionManager, so I'm not sure how the full Foresight install works (not to mention what needs to happen to the Mobile Edition bits to make it work).

Any suggestions? As far as I'm concerned this would be the last show-stopper for releasing an updated version Mobile Edition. All the other things I've found were either cosmetic, or had workarounds.

I think this interface is provided by gnome-settings-daemon, is that running on your mobile edition? If it isn't, it should be pretty obvious though.

Ken – gnome-settings-daemon is running...

Ken – found it! I installed gnome-shutdown, and the "Quit..." button works fine.

Once you fix this, I'd say the new version of mobile edition is ready to go – so let's do it!

Ken – any chance to work on this?

Ed Bailey added a comment - 27/Aug/09 01:33 AM
Ken – it appears that gnome-shutdown was added on the 18th; I wasn't aware of that, and thought the silence here meant no change. Apologies for that.

I just upgraded to group-ultra-mobile 2.0-3-1 (after first removing the gnome-shutdown I installed manually), and gnome-shutdown was installed (and works fine)...

...and it looks to have been promoted to release, and it looks like a release has been created (though not published) – yay!

Downloading the ISO now; will give it a shot tomorrow night, if possible...

Ken – just installed and booted the ISO built on the 18th; everything looks good (modulo the remaining issues under ME-21); thanks for getting this done! As far as I'm concerned, you could close this issue, as the quit button seems to work fine now...
