Do we really want to show Google as start page? Maybe rather have a distribution hompeage that links to
  • Foresight System Manager
  • Foresight Homepage, Wiki, Forums
  • And maybe have a search field for Web Search (Google etc.)

But I rather do not want to suggest that everybody wants to use Google only. I think the browser is the chance to talk to our users on first place.

This is the default behavior of Epiphany

See: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/epiphany-list/2007-July/msg00008.html

You are wrong. You talk abou the default search plugin. This is - when you enter something in the addressbat it uses Google. What I was talking about was the start page.

And OTOH - Foresight changes A LOT of defaults - something being a default is not an argument agains a change.

I would suggest creating a static page with some useful information for the start page, including a google search box. Maybe a link to our news letter, link to launch the user guide... whatever.

We should also create some default smart bookmarks for google and rbuilder searches.

Kevin, please find a volunteer on the marketing team to create a static html page we can use for the default homepage in epiphany and firefox.

Perhaps a first launch search engine choice page?

Retargeting as, obviously, this hasn't been done in the expected timeframe.

epiphany now has its home page as:
r.Replace('http://www.google.com', 'http://www.foresightlinux.org/', 'data/epiphany.schemas.in')
