open this file:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

add: options iwlagn 11n_disable=0 11n_disable50=0 swcrypto=1 swcrypto50=1
and save, will only be that in that file. (if you havent created it before)

Then run:

sudo modprobe -r iwlagn && sudo modprobe iwlagn

Now you get alot faster internet, if you got a fast internet.

After the fix above, i get: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1122957287.png alot faster.

I've tested the experimental firmware (iwlwifi-5000-exp-8.83.5.1) with a 5300 card and kernel 2.6.36.2. Initially it seems to have solved the problem. iwconfig reported bit rate maxes out at 300 Mb/s (though it drops to 6 Mb/s during inactivity). File transfer rates are significantly greater than they were with N disabled.

http://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=experimental might be way?

The above info is from with 5 GHZ mode in router.

Seems only when using 2.4 GHz in router. When using 5 GHz it works perfectly. Even better than earlier. But not an alternative, as it will disable few hardware in my home.
Like Wife HP that using "wl" as driver for internet. Seems not to work with 5 GHz, wont connect to internet.

also tested to use only 2.4 GHz and use Wireless-N only, will also only give me speeds like earlier. But can connect to internet anyway. So right now, only 5GHz will work, also only got Wireless-A and Wireless-N available in 5 GHz mode. That creates few issues in some devices I have at home.

Also this is an issue for some intel cards.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F14_bugs#Intel_wireless_adapters_stop_working_when_in_802.11n_mode

Same with ubuntu. They use a file in etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf (not same name though)
and added options iwlagn 11n_disable=1

Can add that i had no problems with loosing connection so far. But Doniphon might done something inside kernel though

Keep an eye on: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=648732
We are also having same issue.

TForsman: this tip used to work for me and double my wifi speed but I now get

FATAL: Error inserting iwlagn (/lib/modules/2.6.41.4-0.1-foresight.x86_64/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlagn.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

btw you had a blog entry on http://www.foresightlinux.se/en/blog/intel-wifi-link-5100-slow-wireless-n-connectivity-draft-n-fixes-in-linux#comments but the link is broken

Fundamentally an upstream issue. Maybe fixed now, but any fixes would come from upstream
